BNP to Seek Nationwide Consultation If Voted to Power: Nazrul Islam Khan

BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan yesterday said that if his party is entrusted with running the country in the future, it would require advice and cooperation from all sections of society, including Islamic scholars.
“Without guidance and prayers from the Alem community, it is not possible to steer the country in the right direction,” he told reporters after visiting the graves of former Hefazat-e-Islam leaders at Darul Uloom Muinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari, Chattogram.
Nazrul also met with the madrasa’s director general during the visit.
BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, who accompanied him, said, “We have paid our respects to the deceased clerics and held discussions with the current leadership. We hold deep respect for those who led the 2013 Shapla Chattar movement. The July Charter was also discussed.”
He further stated that out of the 826 proposals in the July Charter, BNP agreed with all except 51, and expressed differing opinions on 115 proposals.
“We have reiterated our commitment to implementing the agreed points,” he added.
