The Bangladesh Kindergarten Association (BKA), Chattogram Division, organised a ceremony to honour the recipients of its 2024 scholarship programme, distributing certificates, crests, and cash awards to meritorious students. The event was held on Saturday, July 12, at the July Biplob Smriti Hall of the Chattogram Press Club.
Professor Elias Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Chattogram, attended the programme as the chief guest. In his address, he commended the role of kindergartens in laying the foundation for quality education and character building in young learners. He further congratulated the awardees, expressing hope that their success would inspire other students to pursue academic excellence.
The programme was inaugurated by Professor A.K.M. Nurul Bashar Bhuiyan, Central Vice Chairman of the association. In his remarks, he noted that scholarships not only recognise academic merit but also motivate students and parents to remain committed to education. Poet and essayist Mohammad Kamrul Islam, who also serves as BKAโs Central Secretary of Information and Technology, delivered the welcome speech, highlighting the importance of nurturing creativity, ethics, and cultural engagement from an early age.
Md. Iskandar Ali Hawlader, Central Secretary General of BKA, delivered the keynote speech. He underscored the pivotal role of early childhood education in shaping the nationโs future and called for greater investment in grassroots educational initiatives.
The event was presided over by Lion Mohammad Kabirul Islam, President of BKA Chattogram Division, and conducted by Lion Luvna Humayun Sumi, General Secretary of the division.
A number of prominent guests addressed the gathering, including Zahidul Karim Kochi, Member Secretary of Chattogram Press Club; Alomgir Nur, Bureau Chief of the Daily Manabkantha; Khandaker Rehan Uddin, Central Treasurer; Professor H.M. Nazrul Islam, Organizational Secretary; Sikder Abul Kalam Azad, Secretary of Literature and Culture; Alhaj Uddin Rohit, Deputy Secretary of Education; DIM Jahangir Alam, Executive Member; Rajib Hossain, General Secretary of Natore District Unit; M.A. Matin, Vice President of Chattogram Division; Md. Nurul Absar, Organizational Secretary; Supolal Barua, Publicity Secretary; and Arpon Barua, Secretary of Literature and Culture.
Following the discussion session, the guests formally presented the awards to the scholarship recipients. In recognition of their contributions, the organisers also honoured all attending dignitaries with special mementos.
Organisers stated that the BKA will continue to support and promote educational excellence through similar initiatives across the country in the coming years.
