One of Chattogramโs most prominent educational institutions, Halishahar Housing and Settlement Public School, organised a reception ceremony for its SSC examinees who achieved GPA-5, alongside an environment-focused tree plantation campaign.
The event took place on Wednesday afternoon on the school premises, where distinguished guests handed over crests and tokens of appreciation to the meritorious students for their outstanding academic performance.
In conjunction with the reception, the school also carried out a tree plantation programme, where saplings of various species were planted to promote environmental awareness and sustainability among students.
Md. Nizam Uddin, a member of the schoolโs ad-hoc committee, attended as the chief guest and praised the initiative as a reflection of the school’s commitment to building a socially and environmentally conscious future generation. โThis event is not merely a felicitation but a clear indication of a collective effort to instill values, awareness, and responsibility among students,โ he said in his speech.
The programme was presided over by the schoolโs head teacher, Tapash Kumar Sen, who noted, โOur mission is not limited to academic excellence aloneโwe aim to cultivate moral values, environmental consciousness, and social responsibility in every student.โ
Assistant head teacher Nurul Karim conducted the event. Special guests included Fazlul Karim, Manager of NCC Bankโs Boropool branch, and Arif Chowdhury, Vice President and Branch Head of NCC Bank, Majhirghat branch. The guests jointly handed crests to the top-performing students.
Various fruit-bearing, medicinal, and forest trees were planted within the school grounds as part of the plantation drive. The programme was organised in collaboration with NCC Bank Limited, Halishahar branch, which supported the plantation initiative logistically and financially.
Speakers highlighted that such events offer more than ceremonial valueโthey serve as opportunities to hand over a sense of social and ecological responsibility to the younger generation.
The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and teachers. The atmosphere was lively and encouraging, with many expressing the hope that such initiatives would be continued regularly. โWhen students participate in real-life activities like these,โ said one guardian, โthey learn values that go far beyond textbooks.โ
