Joint Patrol to Curb Coup Threat in Chattogram

In a move to thwart any potential anti-government or coup-related activities linked to the anniversary of the July uprising, the Chattogram district administration has announced a joint patrol operation involving multiple law enforcement and security agencies.

The patrol will cover Chattogram city to Satkania upazila, and is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 21, according to Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom, who spoke at a press briefing held at the Circuit House on Tuesday afternoon.

“The joint patrol is part of heightened security measures to ensure peace and stability during this sensitive time,” said DC Khanom.

She also disclosed plans to commemorate the July martyrs by installing memorial plaques at 15 separate locations across the district. “Memorials will be set up at the exact places where the martyrs fell. In the city, the Chattogram City Corporation will oversee installation, while in the upazilas, the responsibility lies with the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED),” she said.

The initiative marks a coordinated effort by civilian and security authorities to uphold law and order while honoring those who lost their lives in the July events.
