A courtesy gathering was held in support of Advocate Saifur Rahman, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s nominated candidate for Chattogram-1 (Mirsarai) constituency under the election symbol “Scales.” The event took place on Saturday, August 9, at JP Convention Hall on Port Connecting Road in the port city, attended by Mirsarai residents living in Chattogram.

Speakers at the event described Deputy Attorney General Advocate Saifur Rahman as a capable candidate for all, regardless of political affiliation, and expressed hope that Mirsarai would become a peaceful region if he is elected as a Member of Parliament.

Advocate Saifur Rahman himself — Deputy Attorney General, former assistant secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association, and former central leader of Islami Chhatra Shibir — delivered a special address, highlighting his vision for Mirsarai if elected.

The program was conducted by Professor Moniruzzaman and Didarul Alam Sumon, with Principal Nur Nabi Chowdhury, the candidate’s campaign director, presiding. The event began with a recitation from the Qur’an by Khatib Maulana Emdadul Haque Nizami, followed by an inaugural address from Halisahar Thana Jamaat Ameer Fakhre Jahan Siraji.

Professor Ahsan Ullah Bhuiyan, central working committee member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former Ameer of the party’s Chattogram North district, attended as chief guest. Jamaat-e-Islami Chattogram city acting Ameer Nazrul Islam addressed the gathering as chief speaker.

Special guests included Jamaat-e-Islami Chattogram North Ameer and candidate for Chattogram-3 (Sandwip) Alauddin Sikdar, Chattogram city Jamaat assistant secretary Faisal Muhammad Yunus, Chattogram North assistant secretary Professor Fazlul Karim, training secretary Professor Borhan Uddin, Mirsarai Upazila Ameer Maulana Nurul Kabir, Forum of Diploma Engineers convener Engineer Tareq Aziz, expatriate Ziauddin Babul, Chittagong University Islami Chhatra Shibir law and foundation secretary Afnan Hasan Imran, Patenga Thana Jamaat Ameer Abul Mokarram, Islami Bank Agrabad Zonal Office vice-president Shahidullah, former Nizampur College student union VP candidate and Shibir leader Nasir Uddin, as well as the presidents of both press clubs in Mirsarai — Nurul Alam and Anwar Hossain Nizami.
