The Rotary Club of Agrabad has held its 49th installation ceremony in Bangladesh, bringing together a large number of Rotarians in a formal and orderly event on Saturday, 14 December.
The programme was chaired by PP Rotarian Engineer M Khairul Mostafa and opened with the national anthems of Bangladesh and the Philippines. Religious readings from the Holy Quran and the Gita were followed by the Rotary invocation and a video presentation showcasing the clubโs long-standing humanitarian work.
Tributes were paid to deceased founding members, including former district governor Mir Anisuzzaman, recognising their contributions to the organisation.
During the ceremony, outgoing president Dr Purnendu Bikash Saha formally handed over leadership to the newly installed president, Professor Dr Ujjwal Kanti Dash, who outlined his commitment to continuing the clubโs service initiatives. The clubโs annual report was presented by Rotarian Faisal Bin Alam.
The eventโs chief guest, Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Nina P Caynilet, praised the Rotary Club of Agrabad for nearly five decades of community service. She highlighted Rotary Internationalโs global work in areas including public health, clean water, education and environmental protection, as well as its role in supporting international efforts to eradicate polio.
Addressing the gathering, the ambassador congratulated the new leadership and encouraged members to sustain their focus on humanitarian activities.
Speeches were also delivered by senior Rotary officials and founding members, reflecting on the clubโs achievements and future goals.
Two new members were formally inducted during the ceremony. The event concluded with cultural performances, fellowship activities and a dinner.
